Dalhousie Church - Day 5

Today was a long and hot day. We started our day going to Camp John 3:16, with Joanne driving us splendidly in the van. At the camp they had a main multipurpose building, some dorm rooms, a kitchen and a sports court. This camp started 13 years ago, and gets over one hundred kids every summer  It would be so hot that they would have to hose off the kids with water to cool them off, so they really needed a pool. We were there to help with the pool construction. Some of us started by moving gravel closer to the pool. The others would paint benches and tables for the campers. The guy who started the camp named this camp because it was the verse that  brought him to God. He was involved in a gang and his life was headed in the wrong direction. A friend invited him to a camp where there would be sports, girls and food. He went not knowing this was a Christian camp, and when he heard the verse John 3:16 and about Jesus, it changed his life.

In the late afternoon we went to a church with a lot of kids. This gave us a chance to connect with them by playing hockey and playing with a parachute. The kids were very good with new people and were very kind to us. The kids even danced to our songs with us. We finished our day with a great supper with some spicy Swiss enchiladas.
